Everyone is invited,
group members, wives, girlfriends and friends,

On January 25, 2014, the Industrial Model Shop and the Yough Central Model Railroad Club are co-sponsoring a Spring Fever Night Out. This event will be held at the Palace Theatre in Elizabeth Pa., south of Pittsburgh Pa from 4pm to 7pm. We've rented the theater for 3 hours for a private showing of "The Emperor of the North". The night out will start at 4pm with Warner Brothers cartoons followed by the Three Stooges, movie trailers for Buster Keaten's "The General", news reel footage ending with "The Emperor of the North". The Emperor of the North is one of the greatest railroad movies made. Featuring Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine and Keith Carradine the movie is set in the Pacific Northwest during the height of the Great Depression. This is an epic feature of Conductor vs Hobo in a fight to the finish.

In addition to the movie and shorts there will be a White Elephant table with prizes to benefit local model railroad clubs. Ticket proceeds over and above the cost of the theater rental will be donated to the Division 2 NMRA.

Tickets can be purchased at the door at the cost of $7.00 per ticket. Reservations can be made by emailing Scott Schaller at . If you plan on attending please send an email to Scott Schaller so we can try to get a head count on participation. No reservation is necessary so if you decide at the last minute to addend simply show up.

Thanks everyone and we hope to see you at the show!!
the Industrial Model Shop Members

The concession stand will be open for popcorn, candy and soda but "IS NOT" included in the ticket price.

Unfortunately, the weather man is calling for snow Friday night going into Saturday. I hope the snow doesn't keep anyone away. We have a relaxing afternoon planned and the show will be over at 7pm plenty enough time to get home. If you have any concerns or are going to cancell a reservation due to the weather please let me know.
Thanks again

summary of the night out;

The snow that was supposed to start Friday night and end Saturday morning didnt start until Saturday morning and it snowed off and on all through the day. Unffortunately I had no way to contact everyone to cancel the show. How do you cancel when you handed out flyers and had know idea who was planning on attending. Then on Friday I recieved 2 reservations for 4 people via email. So, I hoped for the best.

When I left home there was about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and the roads were snow and slush covered. Its about a 50 minute drive for me in nornal weather and today it took about one hour, Not bad. As I got closer to Elizabeth the roads got clearer and clearer but as I was driving I got a couple more cancellations. I started to wonder if I'd be the only one there. Happily relieved, I wasn't.

I'd like to thank those who braved the snow and cold, you made my day! I'd like to that Janet Lowstetter who came all the way from Cleveland to attend her and her son Matt Kory " its their favority movie" Perry Yahn and his wife drove from Johnstown over the Laurel Ridge moutains – 2 – hours with all the 6 plus inches of snow in winter wonderland (Johnstown). WOW! Roy and Judy Ward to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Sam, I hope you impressed your girlfriend!!!. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

We waited to start the shorts and movie until 4:20 so those fighting the snow had time to arrive. The cartoon and shorts and film clips were timed to the minute. We started with Bugs Bunny, "Hare Trigger" followed by the Three Stooges, "Pain in the Pullman" A movie trailer for Buster Keaton in "The General" (planned future movie) the a clip of the Adams family and Gomez running his trains. The main feature, "The Emperor of the North" was fantastic on the big screen. The near head on collision was riviting and the fight sceen at the end seemed even more brutal on the big screen. if you followed the movie closely you saw tons of detail on the hobo life and how the railroad bulls did everything they could to keep them off their trains.

The bad news for the night was, we cut out one cartoon and one Three stooges from the end due to the late start. And, due to the small attandence we ended up in the red for the night. The good news is that the feedback from those who attended was that everyone enjoyed the entire event and that everyone will come back for our next movie night!!.

To wrap up everything, We're going to do it again!! We'll let you know the day and time for the next showing. After the show some great ideas were discussed. Along with another movie showing, the theater owner is also going to work on prices for an entire day at their facility. This will most likely be a Saturday and will be dedicated to modeling and historical information complete with modeling work sessions and seminars and a movie!

Thanks again everyone and we'll see you again
